Horses and other equine patients require veterinarians who specialize in treating them so we are pleased to offer this service in El Campo, TX and the surrounding communities.
Here at El Campo Animal Hospital, our veterinarians are able to take care of your prized horses and other equines, whether you show them, breed them, or just love them as pets. Our entire staff is dedicated to our equine patients so that they can have the very best life possible.
Since horses have different vaccination needs, depending on where they live, if they travel, and what they do, we recommend discussing your horse’s vaccination schedule with us. Together we can start a schedule that will work for you and your new horse.
Horses typically don’t get vaccinations until they are several months old, depending on their needs. Some vaccinations are started at four months old and need to be boostered three to four weeks later. Some vaccinations are not given until a horse is five to six months old. Most of these also need to be boostered three to four weeks later.
There is a wide variety of equine surgical procedures that may be necessary for your horse. These procedures range from soft tissue surgeries to more specialized ones such as orthopedic surgeries.
We practice the highest level of medicine and care, so you can rest assured that your horse is in good hands with our surgical team. We are proud to have an experienced and knowledgeable team that is trained to provide your horse with the best care possible.
If you have any questions about our surgical procedures or would like to learn more about how we can care for your horse, please contact us today at (979) 275-1634.
Here at El Campo Animal Hospital, we understand horses’ feet are just as important as the rest of their body, if not more important. When horses are lame or don’t have the right shoes, they will not perform at their best. That is why we are determined to work closely with your farrier (or take care of their hooves ourselves) to make sure they are well taken care of!
When your horses have a medical condition that requires special shoeing or splints, it is very important for your farrier to work closely with your veterinarian. Together, they should discuss the medical condition, notes, and x-rays to come up with a plan for your horses.
Highly active performance horses may also benefit from a consult between a veterinarian and farrier. Together, we may be able to improve your horse’s performance by changing their shoes!
Here at El Campo Animal Hospital, we would be delighted to work closely with your farrier (or do the work ourselves) so that your horses can be as healthy as possible. Remember, if your horse’s feet are bothering them, you won’t have happy horses!
